How To Apply
Submissions are open for the 2026 Highland Book Prize from 1st July 2026 to 31st August 2026.
UK publishers can download a full application pack and entry form below.
Please note new publication dates for eligibility: books must be published by an established UK-based publisher and imprint between 1st October 2025 and 30th September 2026 for the 2026 prize. (Books that were previously submitted to the 2025 prize are not eligible for re-entry.)
To be eligible for submission to the Highland Book Prize, titles must comply with at least one of the following criteria:
- Book promotes or concerns itself with Highland culture, heritage or landscape, or
- Has a significant amount of activity set in the Highlands, or
- The author(s) was born/brought up in the Highlands, or
- The author(s) is a permanent resident in the Highlands.
For the purpose of the Highland Book Prize the “Highlands” are defined as the Local Authority areas Argyll & Bute, Highland, Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, Western Isles and Moray.

Moniack Mhor facilitate the Highland Book Prize and regularly collect equalities, diversity and inclusion data, which is held anonymously and securely and will be used only for monitoring purposes.
If possible, please fill this section out on behalf of the author alongside the submission form. This information will be held separately from all other submission information.
